Maria Rosaria Centrone – Co-founder, Board of Directors

Maria Rosaria Centrone is co-founder and president of Articolo12, leading and engaging with several of its projects, while curating the contractual and administrative details within the company. She holds 15 years of experience in the field of children’s rights and international cooperation, and, since 2020, she is Participatory Research Consultant for UNICEF Innocenti – Global Office of Research and Foresight. During her professional development, Maria has been collaborating with many national and international organisations, including the ILO, UNODC, the Council of Europe, and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. She managed and engaged with projects in both the Global North and Global South, especially in South Asia and the African continent. Maria holds a M.A. Degree in Children’s Rights and Childhood Studies from the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and a M.A. Degree in Modern and Contemporary History from Jawaharlal Nehru University (India). She is passionate about working with and for adolescents, especially those belonging to marginalised communities and holding discriminated identities.
Francesca Viola – Co-founder, Board of Directors

Francesca Viola is co-founder and vice president of Articolo12, managing and working for several of the organization’s projects. She has twelve years of experience in research in international development, with seven years specifically dedicated to children’s rights. Since 2018 she has collaborated with UNICEF Innocenti – Global Office of Research and Foresight as mixed-method researcher primarily in child-centred research and programming focused on upholding the rights of children. Prior to that she collaborated with several international NGOs and organizations, including the World Bank (in Ghana and Kenya) where she coordinated field activities on large research projects. She has solid work experience in Western, Eastern and Southern Africa where she collaborated with several organizations and universities and co-led several research projects focusing on children. Francesca holds an M.A. degree in Childhood Studies and Children’s Rights and a MSc degree in Development Economics. In both her professional as well as personal life she is devoted to children, their ideas and their rights.
Alessandra Alloni – Co-founder, Board of Directors

Alessandra Alloni is co-founder and member of the Executive Board of Articolo12, bringing more than 6 years of experience in child protection and rights advocacy. Currently serving as Project Supervisor at Centro Italiano Aiuti Infanzia (C.I.A.I.) in Italy, she oversees child protection initiatives and mentorship programs, while also working as trainer and consultant at Fondazione Acra, where she develops specialised programs in global citizenship and child protection. Her experience includes direct work with children as a social worker and educator in Italian organisations, where she implemented educational programs for at-risk youth and supported vulnerable children’s integration in schools. Through Articolo12, Alessandra has, among others, co-developed innovative projects including “Our Rights, Our Planet” and “Songs for Rights,” collaborating with international organisations to advance children’s rights. Holding a Postgraduate diploma in Advocacy and Child Safeguarding, an M.A. in Childhood Studies and Children’s Rights, and a B.A. in Cultural Studies, Alessandra combines academic expertise with hands-on experience working with children and young people. Within Articolo12, she provides guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of the organisation’s projects.
Chiara Massaroni – Member, General Assembly

Chiara Massaroni is a skilled professional, with more than 15 years of experience as researcher and capacity building expert within UN organisations, governments, and NGOs, including UNODC, IOM, UNDP, and UNESCO. She has worked extensively in multiple countries across Europe, East and North Africa, focusing on empowering diverse stakeholders to implement rights-based approaches in the educational and research sector and, in 2022, she joined Articolo12 becoming one of the company’s associates. Chiara has developed and delivered comprehensive training programs, policy analysis, and research to promote citizenship education, child participation, children’s well-being, early childhood education, and social and financial education, especially towards marginalised populations. Her PhD in Sociology of Childhood and lecturing experience further enhance her expertise in shaping evidence-based, practical solutions for upholding children’s rights globally. Fluent in Italian, English, French, and German, and with extensive experience in multicultural settings, Chiara is known for her ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder collaborations that advance the protection and empowerment of children.
Alessandra Ipince Petrozzi – Collaborator

Alessandra Ipince Petrozzi holds a degree in Anthropology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, a Master’s in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, and a diploma in Childhood and Adolescence Policy and Programming. Alessandra Ipince is a social scientist from Peru with over 10 years of experience in research, knowledge management, and capacity building across various thematic areas related to child rights and disability inclusion. She has worked with UNICEF for over six years, developing knowledge resources and tools, as well as conducting impact assessments and synthesizing evidence on topics such as child protection, the right to participation, and the inclusion of children with disabilities. She has extensive experience in capacity-building through the development and delivery of trainings, both in-person and online, focusing on practical skills for implementing child rights and disability inclusion frameworks and facilitating evidence-to-policy processes.
Alexandra Blackwell – Collaborator

Alexandra Blackwell is a researcher at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health specialising in child protection in conflict and humanitarian settings. With over a decade of experience designing and conducting mixed-methods research on preventing violence and other grave violations against children in emergencies, she has led research teams in multiple conflict-affected countries including Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Syria, and South Sudan, among others. Her work has involved conducting participatory, child-centred research examining violence experiences and protective factors, co-designing interventions to reduce violence and promote psychosocial well-being for conflict-affected populations and evaluating the impact and implementation of humanitarian interventions. As part of these initiatives, she has collaborated with diverse stakeholders, from children to policymakers, to interpret findings and translate research into action through workshops, team-based analysis, and various publications and presentations tailored for practitioners and policymakers.
Andrew Magunda – Collaborator

Andrew Magunda is a research and evaluation expert with 17 years of experience dedicated to advancing youth employability and social development across Africa. His expertise lies in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) methodologies, with a particular focus on curriculum development, youth employment initiatives and business coaching. Andrew specialises in leading practical research and evaluations that bridge theory and practice, having conducted over 32 key evaluations and developed numerous strategic plans across East, Southern, and West Africa. He is passionate about translating evaluation findings into actionable strategies that can improve employment opportunities and social outcomes for youth. As the Country Lead for the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment and founder of Career Path Uganda, Andrew continues to provide expert consultancy services, contributing to the development of evidence-based interventions that empower young people and strengthen organisational capacity across the African continent.
Derrick Alledom Bakuri – Collaborator

Derrick Alledom is a development professional with over eight years of experience in Development Planning, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation. Derrick has researched and evaluated children’s rights and protection projects for over 4 years. His work spans various projects focused on child well-being, child labour, and child education, having collaborated with international organisations like UNICEF and the ILO in the past. Derrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Planning and a Master’s in Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana. His expertise lies in mixed methods research design and management, data management and analysis, and technical writing, as well as capacity development on rights-based approaches to programming. Derrick’s experience also includes consulting for the UN agencies, USAID, the World Bank, and other organizations, where he has contributed to key evaluations and research supporting children’s rights and protection and youth development in West Africa.
Didem Özkul – Collaborator

Didem Özkul is a dedicated researcher with 15 years of experience focused on promoting children’s rights in the digital age. Her expertise lies in understanding the impact of digital media and communication technologies on children, with a particular focus on online safety, digital literacy, and access to information. Didem specializes in conducting child-centred research, employing creative and participatory methodologies to inform policy and practice. Didem has a proven track record of producing high-quality research outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, policy papers, and reports. She is passionate about translating research findings into actionable insights that can improve the lives of children globally.
Domenico Centrone – Collaborator

Domenico Centrone is a filmmaker and film trainer based between Italy and Spain. Specialised in non-fiction films and creative storytelling, he emphasizes the importance of personal motivation and emotional engagement of filmmakers as an integral part of film narratives. His works have been screened and awarded at prestigious festivals such as IFFR Rotterdam, Ji.hlava IDFF, IndieLisboa and Festival di Internazionale in Ferrara. Currently exploring the potential of multimedia and AI audiovisual tools for creative and pedagogical applications, Domenico designs and leads non-fiction film workshops for young filmmakers across Europe, fostering a healthier film industry where creativity, wellbeing and production needs coexist harmoniously.
Enakshi Ganguly – Senior Advisor

Enakshi Ganguly has worked in research, advocacy, and training on socio-legal issues, including child and women’s rights, since 1985. She co-founded HAQ: Centre for Child Rights in 1999 and served as Co-Director until 2018. Her expertise includes research, training and advocacy on issues related to different marginalized groups including children, women, tribals, displaced persons and sexual minorities in partnership with governments, international organisations and multilateral agencies. She collaborates with governments, international organizations, and multilateral agencies, focusing on child rights and human rights. She advocates for legal and policy reforms and has contributed to drafting policies and laws both in India and internationally. She has published books, reports, and articles and is a guest faculty at various academic institutions. Her achievements include the Ashoka Fellowship and the REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship. She has also delivered a TEDx Talk and continues to serve on the boards of several organizations, focusing on gender and child protection.
Ivan Posylnyi – Collaborator

Ivan Posylnyi is a Luhansk-born Ukrainian sociologist, residing in Warsaw, Poland. He holds an MA in Applied Sociology from Kharkiv National University and an MA in Sociology from the Graduate School of Social Research of Lancaster University. He has been involved in research on children and adolescents’ rights since 2016, particularly on the topics of foster care in Ukraine, and children’s identity in occupied areas. Since 2022 Ivan has collaborated with Articolo12, engaging with Polish (CEO) and international (UNICEF, Plan International, Save the Children) organizations and researching the well-being of Ukrainian children and adolescents with displacement experiences. His interests also include forced migration and internal/external displacement, human rights, and identity formation in occupation. Currently, he is working on a PhD dissertation thesis at Warsaw University and is teaching the course “Ethnicity and Identity in Donbas”.
Jean de Dieu Hategekimana Ndiyunze – Collaborator

Jean de Dieu Hategekimana Ndiyunze is a specialist in primary prevention and an expert in the implementation of projects in the sector of Child Protection and Protection of Women and Girls. He brings expertise in qualitative research, quantitative research, and programming to engage men for gender equality and child protection for family well-being. He has 9 years of experience in prevention and response to gender-based violence and 7 years in the field of children’s rights. He currently serves as a gender-based violence Specialist in the Central African Republic. He holds a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Management and Development from the Higher Institute of Computer Science and Management in Goma (Democratic Republic of Congo), complemented by training in protection.
Jessica Daminelli – Collaborator

Jessica Daminelli is a qualitative researcher specialising in children’s rights. Jessica has worked as a research and evaluation consultant for national and international organisations on projects focusing on children’s rights mostly in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. Her experience as a researcher in the international development sector includes undertaking and overseeing literature and policy reviews; planning and coordinating fieldwork missions, particularly in fragile contexts; training field researchers; conducting and overseeing data collection and analysis activities, including on software such as Atlas.ti, NVivo and MAXQDA; promoting research dissemination through workshops, events and publications; and liaising with partners and stakeholders from different levels and sectors including government, private sector, and international organisations. Jessica is particularly passionate about involving children in research using participatory methodologies. With a background in Law and Political Sociology, she is currently a PhD candidate in Children and Youth Studies at University College Dublin, Ireland, working with children as co-researchers to understand children’s participation, agency, and citizenship practices.
Kumar Shailabh – Collaborator

Kumar Shailabh is a human rights lawyer and researcher with over 12 years of experience in promoting and safeguarding the rights of children in India. He possesses a deep understanding of knowledge creation on critical child rights issues. His multidimensional approach towards the human rights of children combines rigorous research, designing and conducting capacity-building programmes for key stakeholders and strategic advocacy efforts at national and international platforms. These initiatives have not only exposed crucial shortcomings in children’s welfare programs but also rallied collective voices to shape child-centric governance. As an ardent advocate of a rights-based approach, he has been representing child victims of sexual abuse before various courts of law as their legal counsel. His extensive engagement with international human rights instruments like ICCPR, UPR and UNCRC has yielded in advancing the human rights of children in India at global forums.
Mashwal Abdul-Rahman Ndego – Collaborator

Mashwal Abdul-Rahman Ndego, as a Social Development Assistant/Probation Officer specializing in children’s welfare, protection, promotion, and juvenile justice, has partnered with various national and international organisations, including the World Bank, Nitrogen to Africa (N2Africa), International Justice Mission, Challenging Heights, Friends of the Nation, Engage Now Africa (ENA), and Ghana Make a Difference (GMAD), to advocate for the rights of children, women, and vulnerable populations. He holds a degree in Nutrition and Community Development from the University for Development Studies and has a strong commitment to supporting the reintegration of juvenile offenders and trafficked children into society, helping them become responsible citizens.
Matilde Rocca – Collaborator

Matilde Rocca is a postdoctoral research fellow in international law at the University of Milano-Bicocca. She is a researcher specialised in human rights law and holds a PhD from the University of Padova. Matilde has long experience working in human rights and children’s rights. With Articolo12, she worked as the leading research consultant for Missing Children Europe, mapping and assessing laws and policies aimed to counter the phenomenon of children going missing. For Terre des hommes, on behalf of Articolo12, she also developed a practitioner’s guide to promote children’s right to a healthy environment in the programme. Prior to starting her PhD, Matilde also worked for UNICEF Innocenti – Global Office of Research and Foresight with the Education and Child Protection teams on the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and child migration.
Riccardo Mastini – Collaborator

Riccardo Mastini has worked in the fields of sustainable development and environmental justice in numerous countries worldwide, collaborating with UN agencies (UNEP, UNDP, IFAD, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights), international NGOs, and the Italian and European Parliaments. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management from The University of York in the UK, a Master’s Degree in Human Geography from Lund University in Sweden, and a PhD in Ecological Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain. He is particularly interested in implementing environmental and social safeguards to protect human rights in the context of international development projects and elaborating innovative policies for transitioning towards an economy centred on social equality and environmental sustainability.
Rustin Schutte – Collaborator

Rustin Schutte holds degrees in English Literature and Psychology from University of Johannesburg in South Africa as well as a qualification for teaching English as a second language. He worked for many years at the university as a tutor in the English Literature and Academic Writing departments. He is a co-founder of Speak, an English language provider based in Puglia, which specialises in English language immersion programmes for teens and adults. He has spent over twenty years in education, teaching as well as creating and running educational and inter-cultural projects. He is passionate about learning and teaching, with a focus on didactic approaches that promote play, critical thinking and collaboration. Since 2017, he has run over 80 residential programmes and camps for both teens and adults across Italy. Rustin collaborates with Articolo12 as a copy editor and proofreader across a range of projects.
Souleymane Sanogo – Collaborator

Souleymane Sanogo is a demographer interested in research on family and child well-being in sub-Saharan Africa. He has studied the family contexts that shape child survival and access to immunisation in Burkina Faso. He also works on how conflict affects the well-being of children and adolescents in various countries in sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a PhD in demography from the University of Geneva and an MA in public economics and applied statistics from the Africa School of Economics, Benin. He collaborated with WHO and UNICEF. He is interested in quantitative research methods and his work focuses on both national comparative research and vulnerable populations.
